Down by the River is the new single of London based outfit Terra viva since the release of their 2019 debut album Lies in Suit and Tie. The single introduces new singer Francesca Confortini as well as a new direction of the project towards a more electronic sound. Down by the River is a riff heavy track with instantly recognizable hooks like the bassline intro, the chorus melody and the after-chorus synth riff which has a world music flavor. The use of the baritone sax to support the verses and choruses gives the track a distinctive sound that is typical of the contemporary London underground music scene.
Although sonically different from their previous effort, Down by the River maintains the socio-political involvement of the band this time highlighting the Brexit phenomenon and its makers.
